The answer is wrong :)

The SMB dialect we negotiate is NT LM 0.12.

(The SMB negotiate request send the list of dialects the client
supports, the server picks the highest it supports and tells the client
to use it.)

Victor,

The answer to this question is 'ONStor'. We have implemented the CIFS
protocol ourselves using our own code and running in our own kernel.
(Only authentication is Samba. Don't discuss Samba with the customer,
though.)

I don't think this answer helps the customer much, though -- it sounds
like they're fishing for some settings or documents to tune the device.

Hi All,

Can anyone answer the question of which SMB dialect Onstor uses or
negotiates?

Thanks again
Victor

The issue was never resolved at Georgia Telco. Neither Fortinet nor us
could figure out why.
As long as the traffic is routed through the Fortinet firewall, users
are unable to=20
access CIFS shares on the filer. =20

Georgia Telco has a workaround which created an interface for each
different subnet.
Essentially, by-pass the Fortinet firewall.

I believe the customer we are talking about georgia telco case. I
believe it never got solved since it probably was the firewall since
packet traces show that the firewall was blocking packets. You might
wqant to talk to rex tommorow when he gets in.

Hi All,

=20

When working with eHarmony and Frontinet I was asked which
SMB dialect we use. It appears eHarmony cannot access their CIFS shares
behind their firewall yet other CIFS servers are accessible. i.e. when
trying to access the share no login window appears.=20

=20

In talking with the SE at Frontinet he indicated there was another
Onstor site that has the same problem. So I figure we might kill 2
birds with one answer on this one. Or if there are any other tricks
anyone knows of that would be appreciated also, (besides the obvious
settings like port #'s, IP's and protocol blocking).

=20

Thanks

Victor
